Lived in the US
Even though I travelled quite a bit before, this is when I discover there’s a world out there. America taught me so much, other than English. The main thing I still carry today in my professional life is work ethic and dedication.
At this point I was very lost, feeling like I didn’t know what I was supposed to do in life. Out of my options, I decided to enrol in Marketing and Business Management. It turned out to be a great experience.
After my mandatory internship for my university (which I did in Turkey), I started self-teaching myself design through book (lots of them, maybe too many), courses and by talking to experts. I didn’t take long at all before I went out there and found the first clients.
ICARO is a 6 months intensive teaching program in which 30 people from 5 different universities are picked to learn about entrepreneurship, design thinking and lean methodologies. This is were I learnt how to make it in my freelance design business.
The pandemic hit at a time in which I was extremely involved in many projects. Instead of letting it become an excuse, I did everything I could to see the opportunities in the situation. This allowed me to organise better and work on bigger and higher quality projects.
And still going
I love what I do so much. My freelance business is growing, and so are the clients I work with. This is the best possible thing I could have hoped for. Big and ambitious projects coming soon.
